A few clips thrown together with a bit of dirty dubstep to cover the cracks of Dr. Lighthouse VJing at Burning Man 2012 at Sacred Spaces theme camp. Thanks to Josh Fitz for shooting the clips and for passing them on to me. When I arrived I thought I might get to play for an hour or so on one night. In fact I ended up playing pretty much every night till about 1am when the crowd had pretty much drifted off to the Playa and I joined them.
Psychic Spies performed at Ejector Seat 2011

The material used for the performance is drawn from an orginal short film “The Abaddon File” written and produced by Roy Hanney. “Psychic Spies” is a live performance with Sound Design by Jez Stevesn and Visual Design by Dr Lighthouse (aka Roy Hanney).

EDITED EXTRACTS FROM LIVE PERFORMANCE
Psychic Spies is a live AV remix utilising original shot material, natural soundscapes, spoken dialogue and additional live electro-acoustic audio score. The narrative explores the layering of simultaneous realities as secret coded messages, broadcast on short wave radio during the cold war, as metaphors not only for the secret world of spies but also for the hidden world of spirits. This is a Faustian tale, a psychological thriller with a supernatural twist. The story takes as its premise real cold war psychic experiments asks the question what is the ‘game’ and what rules apply? As a live remix the performance investigates live cinema as an ever unfolding moment of creation, navigating new rhizomes, plotting new territories, evoking narrative plateaus, as the audience re-imagine their own story.

Written by Patrik Fitzgerald and orginally released on polydor in 1979 the version here was recorded as part of a tribute CD “All Sewn Up” produced by Crispen Glover Records and available on iTune. Video mixed by Dr Lighthouse.

1000 Plateaus: digital potlatch 2009
The Kino Foundation presented “1000 Plateaus 2009: a digital potlatch” curated by VJ PowerPoint (aka Jez Stevens) at The Spring (formaly Havant) Arts centre, Hampshire, UK. The event saw more than 35 artists contribute to this open platform event for digital arts and media coordinated by 1000 Plateaus artists network.
